Professor Shi Xue-Min is a highly honored and qualified clinician, researcher, and academician with a distinguished record of over 50 years in the field. Professor Shi’s remarkable accomplishments are well founded in the ancient theories of Chinese medicine. Noted for his meticulous scholarship as well as his ability to blaze new professional trails throughout his career, Dr. Shi is the recipient of numerous awards, and has published more than 30 articles and authored 40 books. Professor Shi is a famous expert in the field of acupuncture at home and abroad. In the past forty years, he has done exceptional work in developing the fields of acupuncture and moxibustion with outstanding results. He has developed a special technique known as Xing Nao Kai Qiao Therapy (XNKQ) for the treatment of stroke, producing tremendous results. Dr. Shi’s research on the action mechanisms of acupuncture has brought the research of apoplexy treated with acupuncture to a new level.

He was elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1999. He is known as the ‘Father of Acupuncture’ and noted as China’s Treasure.

Dr. Shi’s own creation of the Xing Nao Kai Qiao (Activating the Brain and Opening the Orifices) acupuncture method for treating stroke has been the subject of intense research in China. Over 100,000 patients have been treated with this method in clinical trials and Dr. Shi’s technique is now a standard piece of the curriculum in schools across China.
